In an era when everything is networked, why can’t station monitors provide up-to-the-second information on a train’s status? The barrier, I’m wagering, is ideological, not technical.

Adding insult: NJ Transit is using automated announcements to update its passengers on the status of its trains.

Further insult: The Amtrak website lists my train as being 21 minutes late. If they can update the website automatically, why not the station monitors?
